Dressing room drama

One of the biggest lessons I've learned through our loss is that
things are not always what they seem.

That woman you see wandering aimlessly through the lingerie section -
she might not be as lost or confused as she looks.
It might be that she just delivered her stillborn daughter two days ago
and is now trying to find a sports bra for when her milk comes in
and find tights to wear to the funeral the next day.

That couple you see in the restaurant that is hardly talking and then both crying -
they might not be fighting or breaking up.
It might be that they buried their daughter two days ago.

That women you hear weeping in the corner dressing room -
she might not just hate her body.
It might be that her body is a constant reminder of the baby she doesn't have with her and every piece of clothing that doesn't fit right or shows her belly is another painful reminder.

Be kind to the people around you.
Don't make assumptions.
Give grace.

Because sooner or later we will all find ourselves crying in the corner dressing room.
