We are learning more and more what it means to buy a fixer upper. Basically, your wallet is always empty.
When we bought the house there were 3 aspen trees in front of the house. We knew at least one would need to be cut down. After living here a few months it was clear they would all need to come down. They were pretty close to the house and we wanted to make them fall away from the house before they fell on it!
Some friends gave us the name of a man who cut down a tree for them. We called him to get a quote and he wanted $250 for to cut down all three and he would keep the wood. Craig politely told him we would take care of it ourselves. Then the first snow came. I knew it was time to get them down. We both read up on felling a tree but it was pretty intimidating when we got outside and looked up at them towering over us.
Last Wednesday when I got home from work there was a business card for a tree service on our front door. Craig gave them a call and he man came out the next Morning. He gave us a quote of $100 for all three trees. Again, he would take the wood. This time we said yes, please!
He did a great job and worked very quickly. We would be happy to pass on his information if anyone needs a tree service. After cleaning up the yard was looking good. You can see our house very clearly from the street now and we are reminded that it is oh so peach! Don't worry little house on Flemming, we will paint you come next spring.
