i'm been trying to make some changes to bring more light into our little cave that we call a living room.
first i made a mirror for above the fireplace.
craig helped me hang it because it is super hard to move around.
after we hung it the first time about 1/4 of the shems fell off.
oops!
after a redo a few weeks later we got it back in place.
then about a week after that i found the glue gun still plugged in.
thank goodness i didn't burn the house down.
oops, again!
on onto my pride and joy of this cinco de mayo
my mom bought me an old ottoman about 5 years ago on one of her visits.
at the time she recovered it with some faux leather.
she did a good job because until this morning it was still doing just fine.
i decided it was going to the be next way to lighten up the room.
it was time for the dark brown pleather to go!
this afternoon when craig went off to the golf course i hit up the fabric store.
i came home with some bright fun fabric and the fun began.
off came the old fabric
on with the new fabric
one staple on each side to hold it in place
then i stapled some more leaving the corners open
(by this point i was sweating and had to turn on the swamp cooler.
i'm going to have to workout before i use a staple gun again.)
then i tucked in the corners and stapled some more
then the real fun began.
i made buttons and sewed them on with an upholstery needle.
they are serious needles.
i used the 8 inch for this project.
and here she is in all her glory
i'm pretty impressed with myself.
happy cinco de mayo to you!
